Lublin is home to one of the country's finest orchestras, the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra (Filharmonia Lubelska im. H. Wieniawskiego; Marii Sklodowskiej-Curie 5; tel. 81/531-51-12 box office; www.filharmonialubelska.pl). Consult the tourist information office to see what's playing while you're in town. The office or your hotel can help arrange tickets, or visit the theater box office (Tues-Thurs noon-5pm, Fri 1-7pm). Tickets are also available at the theater an hour before the performance starts.

Cafes, Pubs & Clubs

As the sun sets, do like everyone else in Lublin and head for the Old Town. The long pedestrian walkway Krakowskie Przedmiescie is filled with clubs and late-night cafes. One of the most popular rock clubs in town is Koyot (Krakowskie Przedmiescie 26; tel. 81/743-67-35), complete with sweaty crowds and pulsating dance music. For more traditional pubs and beer drinking, most of the action is on Grodzka in the Old Town. In addition to Samarta, the U Szewca Irish Pub, and Zoty Osio, check out Legenda (Grodzka 1; tel. 81/532-53-72) and at least half a dozen other joints offering a similar mix of beer and conversation.
