Getting There -- There is frequent bus and train service to Čakovec from Zagreb, but if you want to explore the wine road and areas in rural Međimurje it is best to have your own transportation. Alternatively, people in the tourism office can arrange wine road tours. Warning: Međimurje’s wineries are all family operations, so it is best to make arrangements in advance to ensure that vintners will be around when you arrive.
Getting Around -- Walking is the best way to tour Čakovec, but if you want to see any of rural Međimurje, you’ll need a car and a good map.
