Located in the same building as the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Bajo Sexto serves surprisingly authentic Mexican food for a place connected to a tourist destination, and it’s one of the low-key best places downtown for lunch. All of the tacos are well-seasoned and the enchiladas filling, but the Bajo Nachos are the best way to get a bite of everything: Chihuahua cheese, refried beans, jalapenos, sour cream, pico de gallo, and salsa verde, topped with chicken, pork, and ground beef. They are positively gargantuan and the only nachos in town that give Bastion (p. ###) a run for its money. Don’t sleep on the black beans: They are surprisingly epic, likely because they’re mounted with a ton of butter. They also serve excellent margaritas (go straight, not frozen, for peak freshness and strength).
