The bed is the keystone of a hotel room. And the ones at MADE are extraordinary for two reasons. First, the mattress, which is from a brand you’ve likely never encountered: Sapira. This hybrid is half memory foam and half coils, and the results are dreamy as the memory foam allows for body contouring while the coils give room for air to circulate, keeping the user from getting too hot. The bed is swathed in gazillion thread-count sheets, with the key design element in the room being the colorful South African mudflap cloths (they have never touched mud!) at the bottom of the bed and woven into the slats of the frame, giving the woodsy room a glamping or safari vibe. The wooden grid system of shelves, desktop, and hangers on the wall adds to the exoticism. The amenities in the rest of the hotel are just as nice as the rooms, including a very good gym, a view-blessed rooftop bar, a lobby coffee bar, and a restaurant.
