Now Now Noho

Now Now is the U.S. equivalent of a Japanese capsule hotel….but with slightly less privacy, because the ceiling of each guest “cabin” is open, with slats across it to stop guests from climbing into each others’ rooms. That means talking on your phone in your room is forbidden, and each unit comes equipped with eye masks, because if your neighbor has a light on, it will filter into your room. Also, bathrooms are shared: one toilet room, and one shower room, for every 18 guests (there are additional facilities in the basement, along with lockers for large luggage).  Still, rooms are well-maintained and spiffy, if tiny at 27 square feet, with fine linens, luxe mattresses, loaner bathrobes, and wireless charging docks. Only one guest is allowed per room. The neighborhood is groovy, but we only recommend a stay here if it’s the cheapest available sleep (otherwise: you can do  better). Note: Two floors are for women and non-binary people only.
