Little Myanmar

Just like a double espresso, the tea leaf salad at Little Myanmar will leave you buzzing. It’s packed with caffeine, but also with a small mountain of textures and tastes, thanks to fermented leaves, crunchy dried shrimp, crispy soy beans, peanuts, green and red tomatoes and a kapow of chili flakes. It’s a marvelous introduction to a cuisine rarely found in the U.S.A, as are the curries, satays, pancakes and other Burmese specialties on the menu. Alas, there’s no real feeling of Asia in the décor here, which is simple in the extreme and cramped (the space is quite small). But since the servers are the genuinely lovely and attentive owners, most don’t mind.
