Mom’s Homestyle Restaurant has been a fixture of downtown Ocho Rios since the 1980s, serving “Mom” Boyd’s home-style Jamaican cooking in an unfussy bare room brightened with yellow and turquoise walls and furnishings.

Amid the cruise ship hordes that regularly swamp downtown Ocho Rios, Mom’s admirably manages to hold onto its devoted local clientele. Not serving alcohol probably helps keep some tables clear of rum-seeking tourists—lots of awesome juice choices, though. No credit cards.
