This Baroque plague pillar was built in 1729 by the widow of Gen. Maksimilijan Petras, who died of the disease in 1728. Statuary decoration includes sculptures of Sts. Sebastian, Roch, Rosalia, and Catherine. The plague column was built as a prayer that "God have pity on Osijek and repulse the plague which ravaged the whole of Slavonia."
