The Voksenåsen is a modern, boxy affair situated among tranquil lawns in a gorgeous rural setting on the northern extremities of Oslo, but it's still easy to access from the city and the airport by metro. The hotel comes into its own as a romantic winter hideaway and as a base for winter sports or fishing and cycling in summer. Park yourself on the wooden sundeck to take in far-reaching panoramas across Oslo to the fjord coastline, Noordmarka National Park, and the ski jump at Holmenkollen; while the rooms themselves are fairly conservatively furnished, you'll be so enchanted by the views that you won't spend much time in them anyway.
