Palermitani have been coming to this Kalsa outpost to enjoy Sicilian favorites for decades, in good weather enjoying the beautiful Piazza Marina from the terrace out front and at other times dining in one of two plain dining rooms warmly decorated with paintings by local artists. The city’s ties with the sea come to the fore in such classics as zuppe di cozze (mussels soup) and bucatino fresco con le sarde (homemade buccatini with fresh sardines), though land-based dishes include some excellent vegetarian choices, such as a memorable ravioli ricotta e pistachi, ricotta and pumpkin ravioli, served in a mushroom sauce.
