Superlative service certainly puts patrons in the mood, as does the sexy, surprising menu, which includes starters like crispy veal sweetbreads, with wild mushroom and asparagus and entrees of yellowtail snapper in a caper beurre blanc (two favorites, but there are no losing dishes here). Whatever the secret, it’s worked to make Café l’Europe one of the most coveted reservations in town for some 30-odd years now. A classic.
