This funky hole in the wall, set in a 1950’s drug store complete with lunch counter and stools, is where those in the know come to eat some of West Palm Beach’s most laid-back gourmet food. On the handwritten, photocopied menu (which changes daily), you’ll always find a fish specialty, cooked four possible ways, accompanied by a hefty dose of greens and garnishes. The tenderloin tips, inspired, as they say, by Julia Child’s legendary beef bourguignon are reliably delish. Specials may include blackened scallops with Cajun seasoning on a refreshing mango slaw, or veal sweetbreads. The kitschy decor of this tiny cafe is a hoot: vinyl tablecloths and a changing display of paintings by local amateurs.
