Restaurants in Passamaquoddy Bay
Much of the food on Main Street in St. Andrews is of the sugary or deep-fried variety, but there are alternatives and some real gems. Locals swear by The Gables, 143 Water St. (tel. 506/529-3440), a waterside spot with a great patio where you can relax and nosh on seafood, lobster, or burgers. It isn’t fancy, but it’s friendly and hits the spot. For tip-top coffee and dessert, and the best chance of a conversation, head for Honeybeans Coffee, Tea and Treats (180 Water St.; tel. 506/529-4888).

Since 1964, the Fireside has been feeding hungry hikers and other visitors to the island with a good, basic menu of burgers, pasta and grilled dishes. Best on the menu: the Shepherd’s Pie made with lamb and peaches and cream corn topped with garlic mashed potatoes.$$Campobello Island - Cafe
Jocie’s Porch
If you’re looking for a place to check your email, re-caffienate and perhaps get a light bite to eat (excellent house-made pastries and sandwiches), Jocie’s Porch should do the trick. Niger Reef Teahouse
Life seems unusually pleasant when you’re sitting out on the porch of this 1926 chapter house (of the Imperial Orders of the Daughters of the Empire) watching all of the tidal action on the Bay of Fundy, and eating some of the fruits of that bay. The fish chowder here is particularly…$$St. Andrews - Canadian
Prince Cafe
Immerse yourself in the history of Campobello Park and take your light breakfast or lunch on the broad porch of Prince Cottage as the Roosevelts themselves likely did back in the day. Or, ask them to pack a picnic to enjoy elsewhere in the park. This cheery 1920s-era summer home has…$Campobello Island - Contemporary Canadian
Rossmount Inn
Chef Chris Aerni has made the Rossmount into a culinary landmark that food lovers from far and wide seek out. And so they should. When a chef is dedicated enough to forage for edible goose tongue greens (from the marsh), grow dozens of types of herbs in the restaurant garden and hand…$$St. Andrews - Canadian
The Chandler Room
St. Andrews is blessed with lovely historic inns, and restaurants tucked within them, including this circa 1820 home that is now the Treadwell Inn. Its cozy Chandler Room restaurant serves up tapas, fine wines, and a number of rare (and wonderful) whiskeys. The small plates are…$$St. Andrews - Seafood/Pub Fare
The Gables
This informal eatery is located in a trim home with prominent gables fronting Water Street. You enter down a narrow alley; sky and water views suddenly break through a soaring window from a spacious outside deck. It’s all about maritime decor and plastic-porch–furniture informality,…$St. Andrews
