When people think "Portland, Maine," Greek restaurants probably don't come immediately to mind. Emilitsa might change that. The restaurant blends traditional regional Greek foods with the best seafood and fresh farmer's-market ingredients the area has to offer. Greek staples such as moussaka are cooked to perfection...and then there are the surprises, like the artfully prepared lamb ribs and the absolutely unforgettable duck. The menu changes seasonally as Chef Demos Regas (another James Beard-award semi-finalist) re-imagines his previous vision. Located in the Old Port Arts District, Emilitsa has a hip, contemporary vibe and manages to be sophisticated without coming off as stuffy. They are only open for dinner, and reservations are recommended.
