With two locations in Portland—one in South Portland, and now also open in Boston and Cambridge—Otto is taking the local pizza scene by storm. The two defining features of their pizza are their delightfully crispy thin crust that in no way resembles the Saltine cracker crusts you get at many thin-crust joints, and their unique toppings. You can always order a whole pie, either off their menu or creating your own, but they also have a selection of 8 varieties available by the slice: four of their standards that are always available and four chosen daily from their menu and/or specials. By far the most revered of their creations is the Mashed Potato, Bacon, and Scallion pizza. Just. Try. It. After one bite, all will become clear. Other notable pizzas are the Butternut Squash, Ricotta, and Cranberry pizza; the Pulled Pork and Mango pizza; and the Roasted Chicken, Caramelized Pears, and Fontina Cheese pizza. Well worth a visit. You will forever be explaining the merits of a mashed potato pizza to your friends and family. Reservations for large parties only.
