Rab Town Tourist Office (www.tzg-rab.hr; tel. 051/724-064) at Trg Municipium Arba 8 gives out maps and local information.
Rab Town is a medieval wonder, rich with ancient churches and narrow, cobbled streets that seem to be vertical at points. There also is a wealth of stone buildings with red-tiled roofs, and four Venetian-inspired campaniles standing sentry at the harbor.
The old town is immediately behind the Riva (boardwalk) and the marina. You have a choice of three narrow uphill paths, Donja, Srednja,or Gornja (lower, middle, and upper) to get there. The bus station is a five-minute walk north of the old town, and to the west are Komrčar Park and the Franciscan Monastery and Cemetery. The town’s beaches are on its south end.
