Grand Lake Lodge
This 1920 gem reopened in 2011 after a 5-year shutdown, with new ownership immediately bringing it back up to speed. Perched above Grand Lake, the remodeled and modernized cabins are mostly duplexes, offering several bed combinations in one room with a small bathroom; there are also a couple of larger units that sleep more than 10 people. The lodge, fronted by the swings of “Colorado's Favorite Front Porch,” is a classic, with a good restaurant, taxidermy galore, and plenty of places to sit and play antique pin-games or just while away the time around the colossal fireplace.
