Rockwood Park Campground
If you pitch your tent at Rockwood Park, you’ll literally be camping in town, just a short drive over the highway from the city center. The 201 sites sit between the highway and rail yard on one side and a wooded area with trails to lakes and access to a large playground, a zoo, and an 18-hole golf course on the other. Car and train noise can be uncomfortable, if you’re in a tent, but in an RV, it’s not as much of an issue. If you need hookups, you’ll have to settle for a site in what resembles a parking lot, but the convenience of the location and proximity to wooded trails, lakes, and other attractions make it worth the stay.
