Planning a trip to Salamanca
Eight trains (four direct) travel daily from Madrid’s Chamartin station to Salamanca (trip time 1.5–4 hr.), arriving northeast of the town center on Plaza de la Estación de Ferrocarril (tel 90-232-03-20), about a 25-minute walk to Plaza Mayor. The fare is 17€‒35€.
Up to 20 buses a day arrive from Madrid, taking 2.5‒3 hours. The fare ranges 20€‒25€. Salamanca’s bus terminal is at Av. Filiberto Villalobos, 71 (tel. 92-322-60-79), northwest of the town center.
If you’re driving from Madrid, take the N-VI northwest, forking off to Salamanca on the N-501.
The Oficina Municipal de Turismo de Salamanca, Plaza Mayor, 32 (tel. 92-327-83-42), is open Monday to Friday 9am‒7pm, Saturday 10am‒7pm, and Sunday 10am‒2pm.
