Sundial Beach Resort & Spa
Following a 2013 renovation, Sundial is fine-tuned, making for a fine stay for those looking for one-, two-, and three-bedroom condo suites. Views overlook either the one mile of beachfront or landscaped gardens. Rooms are beachy clean and condo-like (in other words, you won't see these interiors in a décor magazine). There are five pools—one complete with a little kids' water slide—and an impressive list of activities, especially those that take place at Sundial's own Environmental Coastal Observatory Center. Highlights there include a large touch tank of local critters, three large fresh- and salt-water aquariums, and a fresh-water turtle exhibit. As impressive as the activities are—check out their splashy seasonal Saturday BBQ Blowouts—they don't come cheap. A daily $30 resort fee does include beach chairs, bikes, and kayaks, among other things. Six tennis courts are joined by access to a local golf club, a volleyball court, a pool bar and grill, two restaurants, and a spa that debuted in 2014. Note that the Wi-Fi is a bit spotty.
