Bring on the Béisbol
Santiago is yet another baseball-mad Cuban city, and the local professional team is usually among the best in the national league. The pelota (as it's popularly known) season begins in late winter and continues through the spring. Games are held at the Estadio Guillermo Moncada on Avenida de las Américas (tel. 22/64-5640). Ask at your hotel about getting tickets (it's usually possible to purchase them right before game time at the stadium ticket booth).
