Maggie's on the Prom
When Yummy’s Wine Bar closed, Maggie’s on the Prom became the only fine-dining restaurant left in Seaside. It caters to a food-conscious clientele, including guests at the boutiquey Seaside Oceanfront Inn, where it occupies the first floor and provides room service. The menu here offers many classics (eggs benedict for breakfast, halibut fish and chips for lunch, filet mignon and bouillabaisse for dinner) but it also presents innovative takes on Oregon meats, vegetables, and fruits like their roasted beet and strawberry salad and, for an entrée, heritage pork cooked in Riesling. It’s seasonal, local and sustainable, and of course it has gluten-free and vegetarian options (like Oregon chanterelle mushrooms on pasta). The Happy Hour is fun and offers a long list of cocktails. Be aware that Maggie’s has a very small dining room; reservations are essential in summer. Maggie, by the way, is not the chef but a cat who used to live in the hotel.
