This is one of my favorite restaurants in Seville. For great value, authentic, delicious Italian food, dished up with no pretentions, Porta Rossa is the place to go. Everything on the menu is good here, with super-fresh, super-tasty flavor combinations inspired by the native Tuscany of one of the owners, Massimo. I love the stuffed pastas: ravioli stuffed with with pinenuts and rare mushrooms, or with cod and black squid ink, or with spinach and soft cheeses. All are utterly delicious. The beef carpaccio—silky slivers of top-quality raw beef drizzled with equally top-quality olive oil and shavings of salty parmesan—is also divine. And for starters, you can't beat the pear, goat cheese, and anchovy. The restaurant and service are like the food, simple, friendly, and elegant. The wine list features a great selection of Spanish as well as Italian wines, including some particularly good value Riojas. Note that in typical Spanish style, the restaurant doesn't open for lunch until 2pm.
