White Point Beach Resort

Whether it’s a convention of 200 ukulele players or travelers enjoying lazy summer days at the seashore, White Point is busy year-round. It’s a complete, self-contained resort. The main lodge was rebuilt after a fire in 2011, so the feel here is no longer that of a historic hunting and fishing lodge, which is how it started out in 1928, but it’s still grand. And activity packed—there’s enough here to keep a family busy for a week (including marshmallow roasts around the bonfire and live music every night). The resort is sandwiched between the ocean (with a nice beach for strolling and waves for surfing) and a small lake (paddling of all sorts). The onsite golf course offers ocean vistas, the indoor pool is a boon on chilly days. There’s also a spa, tennis courts, horseshoes, croquet, and bocce ball; and the indoor games including billiards, table tennis, and shuffleboard. The restaurant is a nice place to eat with a focus on lobster and other seafood. Cabins have had extensive renovations, but the  best units are the newer, elevated oceanfront treehouses perched on stilts at the water’s edge, which come with unobstructed views, private decks and propane fireplaces; or one of the 11 lakeside glomes (that’s short for glamping dome) with luxury king-size beds, tucked under the forest canopy and outfitted with private hot tubs on wrap-around decks.
