Getting There -- There are no railway lines running into St. Gilgen, but buses (the same line serving Fuschl am See and Hof bei Salzburg) run frequently to and from the nearest railway junctions, stopping in St. Gilgen after a ride from Salzburg (trip time: 50 min.) or Bad Ischl (trip time: 40 min.). Motorists should head east of Salzburg for 34km (21 miles) on Route 158.

Visitor Information -- The tourist office (tel. 06227/23480; http://euroalps.eu) in the town center is open in summer daily 9am to 7pm. Winter hours are only on Saturday from 9am to noon and 2 to 6pm.
