One of the best lodging deals on the island is also one of its choicest, especially for those who want a full-throttle immersion in the lush life of a St. Lucian plantation. This eco-retreat and 70-acre organic fruit farm began as a rum and sugar plantation in colonial 18th-century St. Lucia. Each of the four West Indian–style cottages is charm personified, with gingerbred fretwork and detailing, wood-carved furnishings, and sweet little porches or decks framed in palm fronds and flowering plants. Ceiling fans and St. Lucian breezes do the cooling; the cottages have no air-conditioning. Family-friendly Banyan and Almond cottages can hold up to six and four people, respectively, while Frangipani and Calabash are designed for couples. Two beaches adjoining the property are just a 5-minute stroll away. The guesthouse offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal plans, serving home-style fish, chicken, and vegetarian dishes.
