Hotels in St. Pete and Clearwater Beaches
St. Pete Beach and Clearwater Beach have national chain hotels and motels of every name and description. For a comprehensive list of accommodations of all budgets and sizes, go to Visit St. Pete/Clearwater’s website at visitstpeteclearwater.com/places-to-stay. As is the case throughout Florida, there are more short- and long-term rental condominiums than hotel rooms here. Many of them are in high-rise buildings right on the beach. In addition to the usual Airbnb and Vrbo properties, the website above has listings of reliable local vacation rental outfits.
The Laughing Lizard B&B, on Indian Rocks Beach, is a three-story Key West-style home, that's the antithesis of quaint B&Bs. It has 56 windows, many with a view of the Gulf or of Gulf Boulevard; and guest rooms with private bathrooms and kitschy names such as Nautical Newt, Crimson Chameleon, and Gallivanting Gecko. The Island Iguana, is an efficiency apartment with partial kitchen and separate entrance. Innkeeper Bill Ockunzzi, a former mayor of Indian Rocks Beach, holds an evening wine tasting in Lizard Hall just as the sun sinks into the water. Other amusements can be found in the collection of clay, glass, wood, and plastic lizards lounging around in some of the most unexpected places. Rates are $145 to $200. Head to 2211 Gulf Blvd., Indian Rocks Beach (tel. 727/595-7006; www.laughinglizardbandb.com).

Beach Haven
Right on the beach between two high-rise condos, these low-slung, pink-with-white-trim structures look like the early-1950s motel they are. On offer are standard motel rooms and one-, two-, and three-bedroom combo units, all done up in old school, Florida grandma décor. The…$St. Pete Beach - Hotel
Bellwether Beach Resort
This 12-story beachfront hotel (the tallest in St. Pete Beach) debuted in 2021 after a remarkable redo of a ramshackle, yet iconic, 1975 circular tower. Rooms are pretty spiffy now, with pops of color—pinks, limes, and tangerines—that compliment the sunsets seen here from guestroom…$$St. Pete Beach - Hotel
Innisbrook Golf Resort
Golf Digest, Golf, and others pick this as one of the country's best places to play golf. Between Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs, this 900-acre, all-condominium resort has 72 holes on championship courses more like the rolling links of the Carolinas than the usually flat courses…$$$Palm Harbor - Hotel
Island's End Resort
A wonderful respite from the crowds, and a great bargain to boot, this little all-cottage hideaway sits right on the southern tip of St. Pete Beach, smack-dab on Pass-a-Grille, where the Gulf of Mexico meets Tampa Bay. Because the island curves sharply here, nothing will block your…$$St. Pete Beach - Hotel
JW Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa
This $200 million, 16-story beachfront resort debuted in 2023 and it still has that new hotel smell. Located on the quieter, south end of Clearwater Beach, the J dub eschews hustle and bustle, with a secluded beach away well away from the beer bong set. There’s also a rooftop pool…$$$Clearwater Beach - Hotel

Sandpearl Resort
For nearly a century, the original Clearwater Beach Hotel—built as a summer bungalow by a Florida lumberman in 1917—reigned as the crown jewel of the area, eventually passing its rich legacy onto its newest incarnation as the Sandpearl. Sheraton Sand Key Resort
Set on 13 acres of beach next to Sand Key Park, this nine-story Spanish-style hotel is proof that not all Sheratons are schlocky. The Saint Hotel
Our favorite place to stay in the Tampa Bay area, The Saint has unbeatable harbor views and fab early ‘60s kitsch décor (each room is uniquely wonderful). All have kitchenettes. The pool area is a hoot, surrounded by neon pink umbrellas and filled with pink flamingo floats. There’s…$$St. Pete Beach - Hotel
Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach
With sweeping views of the gulf, clean and modern rooms, some with bunk beds, a massive oceanfront pool and sundeck, and a very good Asian fusion restaurant, this contemporary Wyndham is grand indeed. The only drawback here is that part of the resort is a private residence, so you’re…$$$Clearwater Beach
