Restaurants in St-Tropez
St-Tropez’s dining scene is both expensive and exclusive, particularly during the summer season. Reserve well in advance or be prepared to dine very early or very late. If you don't want to spend your child's college fund just to get fed, we have a few suggestions for you, both here, and in the full reviews on this webite. Chez Madeleine, 14 pl. aux Herbes (📞 09-52-04-39-47), behind the fish market, is known for its oyster bar, and also serves stellar seafood platters at not too painful a price. Afterwards, head to Barbarac, 2 rue Général Allard (www.barbarac.fr; 📞 04-94-97-67-83), which has been scooping up the finest artisanal ice cream in town since it opened in 1986. And sometime during your visit you must try a tarte tropézienne, a calorific rush of white sugar, white flour, and white cream, is a must and though it's dessert, it will fill you up. You'll find them at one of the four Tarte Tropézienne cafés (see above) around town, including on boulevard Vasserot.
