With a reputation as hot as the chilies in its jungle curry, the Sailors Thai “canteen” (the upper level of this establishment) attracts casual lunchtime crowds who come to eat great-tasting noodles, green papaya salad, a green curry of slow-cooked beef, and more . . . all at one long table with about 40 chairs. Four other tables on the balcony overlook the cruise-ship terminal and the quay. Downstairs, the upmarket “dining room” restaurant serves inventive food that’s a far cry from your average Thai restaurant fare, such as Berkshire pork belly wok-tossed with dry red curry and snake beans. Book well in advance for the restaurant (no bookings taken for the canteen).
