From Bled and Bohinj, the most exciting way to get to Bovec or Kobarid is by driving over the Vrsic Pass, via the Kranjska Gora winter resort; there is also a bus that traverses the pass at a very gentle speed.
Kobarid's Tourist Information Office, Gregorciceva 8 (tel. 05/380-0490; www.lto-sotocje.si), is very helpful, and will make suggestions around which walks, bike rides, or other adventures are best suited to your schedule and ability. Bovec Tourist Information Center, Trg Golobarskih zrtev 8 (tel. 05/389-6444; www.bovec.si), is largely geared toward providing information about sports activities, but will also help you find accommodations.
