Roseanna's Café

Oceanside was the first coast town I ever stayed in in Oregon, and it didn’t have a restaurant—or much of anything except simple cottages and a great beach. When Roseanna’s opened in the early 1980s, it became a favorite spot for locals and those driving along the Three Capes Scenic Loop. Unpretentious and with a fabulous view, it was the only eatery for miles around that attempted to do more than greasy fish and chips or burgers. Over the years, this little restaurant in a simple storefront building from the early 1900s hasn’t changed much: The food is comfortable and filling if not haute cuisine. Sometimes they add sauces to dishes that would be better without but you can usually get good, unadorned salmon. Roseanna’s is famous for its desserts, particularly the fresh huckleberry cobbler. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations, so be prepared to wait.
