Getting There -- From Bratislava, the drive takes about 90 minutes in light traffic. Trencín is also easily reached by train or bus from Bratislava or Zilina. Regular bus service links the city to Brno in the Czech Republic and points west. Trencín's bus and train stations are next to each other and situated about a 10-minute walk through a park from the center of town.
Visitor Information -- Trencín's Tourist Information Office, Sládkovicova (tel. 032/16186; daily Apr 15-Oct 15 Mon-Fri 8am-6pm, Sat-Sun 8am-4pm; Oct 16-Apr 14 Mon-Fri 10am-5pm, Sat 10am-noon), is just off the main square. The helpful staff can provide a local map and information on the sights, as well as good advice on hotels and restaurants. While the office doesn't book rooms, they keep a list of accommodations and can make a few helpful phone calls.
