When old mansions in these parts are converted into contemporary accommodation, they sometimes lose a bit of character. Not this charming guest house up the hill from Plaza Mayor. The public spaces and guest rooms in the 16th century homestead retain lots of original features, including granite doorways, wooden beams, and exposed stone walls. The furniture is elegantly antique. Breakfast is served on the leafy terrace with close-up views of Iglesia de Santa María Mayor, but for dinner you’ll be better off a few steps away at the excellent La Alberca.
