Most bars are in the town's pedestrian zone or adjacent to rue Principale. Café Face, rue Principale (tel. 04-79-06-29-80), draws an attractive crowd and plays the best music. Its most fun alternative, Dick's Tea Bar (tel. 04-79-06-14-87; www.dicksteabar.com), just off the rue Principale and opposite the Hôtel Christiania, is the wildest après-ski joint in the Val d'Isère. Inside you'll find a rustic and cozily appointed timber-and-stone interior (including an Internet cafe where you can surf things other than the snow) where you can drink as merrily and as uninhibitedly as you want, and -- after around 9pm -- dance, dance, dance. Although the cover charge of 10€ is imposed after midnight, the bar is open every day during winter from 9am (for breakfast) to 4am. Hours vary during off season, but even during the slowest period, the place is usually open on Friday and Saturday nights. Smaller and more intimate, without dancing, is a bar that has a neighborhood feel, two pool tables, and lots of English-speaking patrons: Le Petit Danois, behind the bus station, off rue Principale (tel. 04-79-06-27-97; www.lepetitdanois.com).
