Built by the Jesuits between 1642 and 1646, this Baroque cathedral originally incorporated both a church and a Jesuit College. The interior is adorned with frescoes and woodcarvings, and focuses on a monumental main altar, decorated with gilt, marble, statues, and a painting of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Because of its great acoustics, many concerts scheduled during the Varaždin Baroque Evenings (www.vbv.hr) are held here.
