Vathi -- The food along the paralia in Vathi is mostly tourist quality and mediocre; you'll find the best restaurants in the small towns away from the harbor. The local wines on Samos, for a long time, have been known for their excellence. (As Byron exclaimed, "Fill high the bowl with Samian wine!") Samaina is a good, dry white; Selana, a relatively dry rosé. The Greeks here also like sweet wines, with names such as Nectar, Doux, and Anthemis. Almost any restaurant will serve one or all of these choices.
