What better place to house applied art than in this beautiful red brick building with ornate detailing and stunning interior designs with painted vaulted ceilings and pillars. Collections of rococo and Biedermeier furniture are beautifully curated and other antiques, glassware, crystal, and large collections of lace and textiles are also on display. Changing exhibits showcase contemporary artists, designers, and architects like Hans Hollein and historically meaningful game-changing designers like Adolf Loos. An entire hall is devoted to Art Nouveau. There are outstanding objects from the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshop), founded in 1903 by architect Josef Hoffman. The Museum also hosts frequent events surrounding design, music, and fashion, as well as the MAK NITE Lab, an evening playground for experimental artists.
