We've reached the fourth quarter of 2026—the season when travel companies and journalists coin cutesy terms for the trends expected to predominate among vacationers in the coming year.
In the past, many of these would-be additions to the lexicon have quickly faded away (bleisure, we hardly knew ye). But some have had staying power, probably because they actually tap into something in the zeitgeist.
A good example: set-jetting, which refers to the practice of traveling to the filming locations of popular movies and television series.
"Nearly 1 in 5 travelers globally have booked a trip to a destination after seeing it featured in a TV show or movie," according to Expedia's annual travel trends report, released this week.
But apparently, fans are no longer waiting until the given piece of entertainment has actually been released.
The report claims that searches for Monaco on Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo (all part of the same company these days) "spiked by over 120% in the 30 days after Emily in Paris confirmed season 6 was filming there."
To make sure you don't miss out—or to help you avoid the hordes of beret-sporting Emily cosplayers—we've listed below the hotly anticipated movies and TV shows that Expedia has identified as most likely to drive interest, along with their release dates and the destinations expected to get a surge of set-jetters in the coming months.
