After a recent round of renovations, the Gran Hotel has become the best hotel near Cochabamba's center. It's located in the ritzy Recoleta residential neighborhood, surrounded by the city's most popular restaurants and bars. Though it's still relatively unluxurious, they've updated the decor and added LCD TVs, DVD players, and Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. On my last visit, some rooms, particularly those towards the ends, were in various states of renovation, so be sure to see a few rooms before settling. El Carrillón restaurant offers a full Bolivian and international menu, and the prices are quite reasonable.
