In & Near Portoferraio -- When all I want is a quick sandwich in a split focaccia or a simple tavola calda dish such as lasagne, I stop by unpretentious Pane e Pomodoro, on Via Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto in Portoferraio, between the town gate and main square (tel. 0565-917-121). It's a simple bar with a small glassed-in veranda off the side; panini go for about 2€/$2.60, main dishes and pizza for 4.50€ to 7€ ($5.85-$9.10).
