One of the island's oldest inns, the Elban Bee is very simple but sits on the main square in Portoferraio's Old Town -- best for those who didn't come exclusively for a beach vacation. The basic furniture is a bit worn, but the beds are firm, the tile floors clean, and the price as good as you're going to find, especially off season. Twelve of the rooms even have air-conditioning. Some look over the main piazza, while others spread their vista across the rooftops.
