This is a secluded, semi-isolated oasis a 20-minute drive beyond Marciana, set above one of Elba's trendier, quieter villages. The family-run Bellavista is aptly named: Its position at the isthmus of a short peninsula gives most of the accommodations a "beautiful view" of the sea in three directions, and on clear days you can see the whole of the Tuscan coast, Gorgona, Capraia, and Corsica from many windows and the shared terrace. Most rooms still sport uninspired furnishings (though they were replacing those at press time) and cool tile flooring, but they have restructured the lower floor with new bathrooms and furniture, along with tiny terraces that overlook the owners' modest vineyards and gardens to the infant chestnut grove and wooded Sant'Andrea spur and blue sea beyond. Trails lead into these woods, down to the little Sant'Andrea beach in one direction, or to secluded shoals in the other. Only two rooms are without views.
