Planning a Trip

Getting There -- More than 25 trains per day run between Girona and Barcelona from 5:45am to 9:30pm, including two TALGOS. Trip time is 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the train. Depending on the train you select, tickets can run from 6.70€ to 17€ ($9.70-$25) one-way. Trains arrive in Girona at the Plaça Espanya (tel. 90-224-02-02 for information; www.renfe.es).

From the Costa Brava, you can take one of the SARFA buses (tel. 97-220-17-96 in Girona) to Girona (7:30-8:30am). Three per day depart from Tossa de Mar. Barcelona Bus (tel. 97-220-24-32 in Girona) also operates express buses between Girona and Barcelona at the rate of 6 to 13 runs per day, depending on the season and demand.

From Barcelona or the French border, drivers connect with the main north-south route (A-7), taking the turnoff to Girona. From Barcelona, take the A-2 north to reach the A-7.

Visitor Information -- The tourist office at Rambla de la Libertat (tel. 97-222-65-75; www.ajuntament.gi) is open Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm, and Sunday 9am to 2pm.
