Central Girona has a good number of tapas bars and cafes, some of which don't have easily distinguishable names. Many are scattered along La Rambla, around the edges of the keynote Plaça de Independencia, and within the antique boundaries of the Plaça Ferrán el Católic. Moving at a leisurely pace from one to another is considered something of an art form in the sultry heat of Girona's early evenings. Appealing for its crowded conviviality and its impressive roster of shellfish and seafood tapas is Bar Boira, Plaça de Independencia 17 (tel. 97-222-29-33).
Beginning around 11pm, you might want to drop into one or another of the town's discos, the most popular of which is Disco/Sala de Fiestas Platea, Jeroni Real de Fontclara 4 (tel. 97-222-72-88). In the city's oldest core (in a narrow alley just behind Girona's main post office), it's open Wednesday to Sunday from 11pm to 5am.
One of the most appealing things to do in Girona after dark, at least between June and September, is to cross the river into the verdant precincts of Parque de la Devesa, an artfully landscaped terrain of stately trees, flowering shrubs, kiosk-style refreshment stands, and open-air bars.
