Originally built around 1900, this is the most centrally located hotel in town, ideal for theater, sightseeing, dining, or business. A narrow flight of marble stairs runs to the lobby. Many 1920s Art Deco appointments adorn the public rooms. The cozy guest rooms, which vary greatly in size, are freshly painted. They contain reproductions of traditional furniture, and come equipped with neatly kept bathrooms with tub/shower combinations. Those in front overlook the noisy, animated square; the rooms in back overlook the congestion of the Bairro Alto.
