Frommer's Review
Built in the 1800s as a private villa for the count of Coruche, this building lies behind the botanical gardens -- it's an oasis of tranquillity in an otherwise noisy city. Managed today by the Marquês family, it became a hotel back in 1945. Although renovated, the high-ceilinged rooms retain an aura of their original slightly dowdy, somewhat frayed charm. All units are well kept and contain private bathrooms with tub/shower combinations. Breakfast is served in a sunny second-floor dining room decorated with antique tiles.
