Frommer's Review
Within a brightly lit, two-room showroom in the heart of Lisbon's Chiado district, this shop sells the products of only one Portuguese ceramics factory (Viuva Lamego), which was established in 1849 near Lisbon's suburb of Sintra. Most items are available at deep discounts -- as much as 60% from what you'd have paid if you'd gone into a conventional retail store. The designs, as interpreted by the merchandise here, are old-fashioned and colorful, with lots of emphasis on animals of Portuguese fields and skies, some of them accurate to nature, others whimsically mythical. The hand-painted tiles here are an especially good value.
