Frommer's Review
Located in Butler's Wharf, the Bar and Grill's live piano music (on evenings and weekends) and wide choice of wines and cocktails creates one of the most convivial atmospheres in the area. Although such dishes as ham and foie gras terrine, and langoustines mayonnaise are featured, the culinary star is a heaping platter of fresh shellfish -- perfect when shared with a friend, accompanied by a bottle of wine.
In bold contrast is the large, more formal room known simply as the Restaurant. Filled with burr oak furniture and decorated with framed lithographs of early-20th-century Parisian cafe society, it offers excellent food and a polite but undeniable English reserve. The menu may list such temptations as roast rabbit wrapped in herbs with pancetta and a mustard vinaigrette, or whole roast-buttered lobster with herbs. One especially winning selection is best end of lamb, with a black olive and herb crust in a red-pepper sauce. All the fish is excellent, but none better than the Dover sole, which can be ordered grilled or meunière.
