Frommer's Review
One of three London restaurants established by fashion designer Joseph Ettedgui, it's often filled at breakfast and lunch with well-known names from the British fashion, music, and entertainment industries, thanks to its sense of glamour and fun. No one will mind if your meal is composed exclusively of appetizers. There's a bar near the entrance, a cluster of tables for quick meals near the door, and more leisurely (and gossipy) dining available in an area a few steps up. The atmosphere remains laid-back and unstuffy, just as trendsetters in South Ken prefer it. With a name like Joe's, what else could it be? You can sample such starters as fresh crab ricotta pancake with orange dressing and baby spinach or a goat terrine with cherry tomato marmalade. Main dish allures include homemade pappardelle with a wild rabbit ragout and Pecorino cheese, and a lamb shank in a red wine sauce. A specialty is chargrilled lobster with king prawns, squid, and langoustines with a tomato concasse.
