Frommer's Review
Inside InterContinental's Churchill Hotel, this Italian restaurant is the success of the moment. Its charismatic owner, Giorgio Locatelli, is something of a celebrity himself these days. In a sleek, modern dining room with etched-glass panels and leather banquettes, you are served some of London's finest Italian fare. Beginning with the appetizers, dishes burst with flavor. We are especially fond of the artichoke and ham hock salad, and the pan-fried scallops with saffron, both served as starters. The food is superbly cooked and beautifully presented, especially the succulent homemade pastas, such as homemade chestnut tagliatelle with wild mushrooms and another homemade pasta stuffed with pheasant and served with a rosemary jus. We give high praise to such mains as steamed filet of hake with a garlic and parsley sauce or roast leg of rabbit with parma ham and polenta. "Heaven sent" is the best way to describe such desserts as Sicilian ricotta cake with pistachio ice cream, and chestnut mousse with a warm chocolate foam.
